Liz's Story

As a foster child herself, Liz Ferro, founder and Executive Director, was adopted at the age of two and personally experienced sexual abuse as a child. Liz credits athletics and fitness for giving her the self-esteem and inner strength needed throughout her life to overcome difficult times and view herself and her body as purposeful and important.
 
 
ATHLETIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Competitive Triathlete since 1993 and completed 10 Marathons, 2 Ironman Distance Triathlons, and countless other Half-Ironman, Olympic Distance and Sprint Distance Triathlons. Competed in many Duathlons, Running Road Races and Adventure Races.

The Marathons completed include: The two Great Floridian Ironman Races, Las Vegas Marathon, Columbus Marathon, Cleveland Marathon (3), Napa Valley Marathon, and the Tow Path Marathon (2).

INSTRUCTOR
Group Exercise and Fitness Instructor from 1992-2009. The classes taught from 1992 until 2003 include: Water Aerobics; Abdominal Lab; High-Impact Aerobics; Low-Impact Aerobics; Funk Aerobics; Step Aerobics; Strength Training with Dynabands; Body Sculpting with weights; and Spin (Group Cycling).

Taught Spin classes at The Omni Fitness Center in Middleburg Heights for 8 years, and have taught at Ann Weixel’s Group Cycling and Fitness Studio in Lakewood, Euphoria Health and Fitness in Cleveland, and Fit in Ohio City.
Instructed in various other fitness centers including: Siemens Corporate Fitness Center in Munich, Germany; My Spa Lady in Munich, Germany; The Club at Society Center (now Key Club); BP Corporate Fitness Center; The Athletic Club at One Cleveland Center; and the Strongsville Recreation Center.
 
 
With your help we have the potential to change the lives of girls through sports and fitness--just as sports and fitness have changed my life.
The positive impacts of girls playing sports is endless. From health benefits and self-esteem to learning life skills such as leadership and team work, it is clear that all these girls really need is a sporting chance!
