Mahatma Gandhi said “Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.” When the outside world, its evils, its failures and its disappointments compromises our inner being, we must find the strength and the power within to show we are tenacious. And by running, swimming and even dancing miles, we can prove to ourselves that we can endure anything. Girls With Sole is a group that supports young girls to find that power within. Because of this, I am so proud to take part in this organization.

Girls With Sole and Founder, Liz Ferro, were honored at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City on Monday, November 7, 2011. The award was presented to Liz by Natalie Morales, Anchor for NBC's News TODAY.
2011 Red Cross Hero Awards
Liz Ferro, Founder and Executive Director of Girls With Sole was chosen as a 2011 Red Cross Hero in Cleveland, Ohio in the category of Innovation.
Heroes were honored by the American Red Cross in Cleveland Monday, November 14.
19 Action News anchor Denise Dufala had the honor of being the emcee at the hero awards, which took place at the Intercontinental Hotel.
15 people in our area received the recognition they deserve for saving and changing lives and Girls With Sole was so proud to be part of it and to be awarded with such a wonderful honor.
